Remember those glorious backgrounds?

This is what they have grown up to be:

I used various cables and wires
to create this name "plate."
The name is covered on this one because
it will have a new home on Christmas.

This one is for a beloved who loves
things shiny and blingy and flies in her dreams.

This is for one who sets little hearts and souls
free to dream.

still getting a feel for the light here,
so picture quality is not the best.

after a week away visiting my girls
i spent today working on ATC's
(artist trading cards)
for a group i'm part of.

i started with 2.5" x 3.5" card stock.
added gel medium and tissue paper for texture.
a layer of one acrylic paint.
a light layer of a second color.
acrylic ink using a stencil.
butterfly punch outs.
a shiny gem.
and a heart charm.

i then wrote out:
"love with all your heART"
in a metallic marker
then acrylic ink applied with a calligraphy pen.

and here they are!

Background Progress Pics

I am absolutely loving the feel of these canvases!

The colors...

the textures...

and how they are already letting me know
where they will be most at home
when they "grow" up.

Today was about texturing backgrounds on 11x14 canvases.  I used some old art meditation work, music sheets, tissue paper that got spilled on, and produce bags.

Stayed tuned to see how they "grow up."

Introduction to my studio

Welcome to my studio!  I have missed sharing with my art tribe and have dedicated a blog to just art...

yet knowing my passion is the intersection of art and faith there may be times I share some thoughts as well.  This is my new studio:

(it is still very messy).

I have recently taken a class from Jodi Ohl and this piece I did while in her class:

This one I did when I got home:

And these are in process:

What are you working on?
